Following a stunning £4m new build project, Go! Active at The Arc in Clowne, Derbyshire held a preview open day on Saturday 28th January 2017 to showcase the amazing new facilities to the local community.
The facility is owned and operated by Bolsover District Council, in partnership with Strategic Leisure Development (SLD) partner Pulse. The Pulse Group was appointed as the council’s SLD partner in 2015 and has been responsible for all aspects of the project, including the design and build, supplying and installing new gym equipment and assisting with sales and marketing.
The leisure facility now boasts a brand new 25m swimming pool, a children’s pool and flume, a Play Kingdom, new wet, village changing rooms, a “changing places” accessible changing facility, a thermal suite complete with steam room, sauna, ice fountain and snail shower, as well as a café, in the 1961sqm extension.
The existing fitness facilities have also been expanded upon to create a modern state-of-the-art centre, complete with two brand new group exercise studios and a group cycling studio kitted out with 20 Keiser bikes. The fitness suite has been extended to a 100-station gym, installed with the latest cardiovascular, strength and plate-loaded lines from Pulse Fitness, the dedicated equipment arm. The gym also features a bespoke functional training rig, and all equipment is fitted with Pulse’s innovative tracking and member management software PulseMove.
The team at Pulse Design and Build also redesigned the space to incorporate brand new management offices within the facility.
“We are delighted to have opened this fantastic facility, following a successful working partnership with Bolsover District Council,” says Chris Johnson, Managing Director for Pulse. “Go! Active is truly a leisure facility fit for the whole community and we are thrilled to see so many people walking through the doors already.”
Councillor Mary Dooley, Cabinet Member for Leisure at Bolsover District Council said, “I am very proud to have been involved in this amazing project from the beginning. Together with our partners Pulse, we now have a state-of-the-art facility which provides a much wider range of health and fitness facilities for people within Bolsover District and the surrounding communities to enjoy, whatever their age.”
The preview weekend saw more than 6,000 visitors pass through the doors, and the current membership sits at more than 3,100 just a couple of weeks after opening, with numbers continuing to grow.
