Following an appointment last year by Great Yarmouth Borough Council to become their strategic leisure development partner, leading leisure solutions supplier Pulse has recently completed a total transformation of Phoenix Pool. The new facility is operated in partnership with Sentinel Leisure Trust.
The work, which involved a £2m investment by the borough council, has seen Pulse transform the former dilapidated 40-year-old facility into a state-of-the-art leisure centre. Pulse are supporting the council’s vision to improve and modernise sport and leisure facilities, boosting health and fitness provision in the local area.
Pulse Design & Build – the dedicated construction division of the Pulse group of companies – was responsible for completely gutting out the old site and building a brand new extension, taking the total sq. metres of the site to 1498. The building was previously 860sqm and the new extension now includes a thermal suite, a brand new 55 station gym and studio. Pulse Design & Build have also carried out a full refurbishment of the pool hall, remodelled the reception area, created new changing rooms and have redesigned the carpark to maximise space.
Pulse’s equipment arm – Pulse Fitness – have created an impressive fitness space with a spacious layout, sleek new equipment, encompassing the latest technology. Pulse have brought the centre into the 21st century with a comprehensive 55-station fitness suite with the perfect equipment mix. The new facility includes Pulse’s top-of-the-range Series 3 Fusion Cardio line, as well as strength and functional training kit. The gym also has a new free weights area and functional training rig. Members are able to track their workout’s and activity both in and outside the gym using Pulse’s innovative member management and activity software PulseMove. The software is compatible with all the new equipment and is also available for free to download via the app store.
As the strategic leisure development partner Pulse Solutions, the dedicated business operational solutions division, have provided all IT infrastructure, access control systems and the member management software. Sentinel Leisure Trust will be in charge of operating the facility whilst Pulse Solutions will be providing ongoing sales and marketing support.
“We are delighted to have officially opened Phoenix Pool and to be supporting Great Yarmouth Borough Council and Sentinel Leisure Trust with this project,” says Aron Nassim, Director of Projects for Pulse. “The Phoenix Pool is truly a leisure centre fit for the whole community and we are thrilled to see so many of the community walking through its doors already.”
The facility officially opened on September 14th and is already exceeding expectations with members. On its opening weekend alone the facility received over 1,000 visitors and membership has achieved 24% over latent demand figures for the area in less than 4 weeks of trading.
